A message from someone new usually starts as a request. The recipient can review it before opening a regular conversation.
Send a message request
- Open the person’s profile and select Message.
- Write a concise note explaining who you are and why you are contacting them.
- Send the request and wait for a response.
The recipient can accept, ignore, or block the request. The sender can cancel it while it is pending.
After acceptance
The conversation moves into regular messages. Existing trusted relationships may allow a direct conversation without the same first-contact step.
If a request cannot be sent
- Confirm you are signed in and the recipient has not blocked you.
- Your account may not meet the recipient’s message preference.
- Wait for any pending request instead of sending duplicates.
Never send seed phrases, private keys, passwords, sensitive identity documents, or unsolicited financial instructions in chat.
